Frequently asked questions
Why does fancy text work on Instagram and TikTok?
These platforms render all standard Unicode characters — including special blocks like Mathematical Script (cursive), Enclosed Alphanumerics (bubble), Fullwidth Letters (aesthetic), and Fraktur (gothic). These are not fonts or formatting; they are entirely different Unicode characters that happen to look decorative. Platforms cannot block them without also blocking emoji.
What is the difference between cursive and gothic text?
Cursive (Script) uses Unicode Mathematical Script characters (U+1D49C–U+1D4B5), designed to look like flowing handwritten letters: 𝒶𝒷𝒸. Gothic uses Unicode Fraktur characters (U+1D504–U+1D537), based on the medieval blackletter script used in old German printing: 𝔞𝔟𝔠. Both work on all modern platforms.
What is aesthetic / vaporwave text?
Aesthetic text uses Unicode Fullwidth Latin characters (U+FF01–U+FF5E), which look like spaced-out capital letters: A E S T H E T I C. Originating from vaporwave internet culture, this style became a staple of aesthetic social media bios and TikTok usernames. The fullwidth space (U+3000) replaces the regular space for a consistent wide look.
How does upside-down text work?
Upside-down text uses IPA (International Phonetic Alphabet) characters and other Unicode glyphs that visually resemble flipped Latin letters: ɐ ɔ ǝ ƃ ɥ ı ɾ ʞ ɯ ɹ ʇ ʌ ʍ ʎ. The string is also reversed so that it reads correctly when rotated 180°. Not every letter has a perfect IPA equivalent, so some characters are approximations.
Does this tool upload my text to a server?
No. All conversion happens entirely in your browser with JavaScript. Your text is never sent anywhere, never logged, and never stored. You can even use this tool offline after the page has loaded.
